The Lignou-de-Briouze brick kiln was built and abandoned in the second half of the XVIIIth century. This kiln, of rectangular plan, built entirely of bricks, is buried up to the openwork oven floor level, which is about 5 mètres long and 3 mètres wide. This kiln is composed of two hearths to which access is by a gentle slope in the earth : each of them commands two flues situated under the raised floor. The remains of this kiln seem to conform to the brick kilns described in Diderot's Encyclopaedia, but it's upper part has since disappeared.Le four de briquetier de Lignou-de-Briouze a été construit et abandonné dans la seconde moitié du XVIIIe siècle.
