The excavation at Plaudren-Les Grandes Routes was justified by a clearing of land in which there was an Iron Age protohistoric cemetery. The cemetery was composed of eleven tombs. One of them was particularly interesting because of the artifacts it contained : a lot of little drinking cups, a metallic hoard including a sword, and the iron part of a shield.
