The pollen analysis of a boring in the marsh of la Harelle, located on the left bank of Seine berween Rouen and the estuary, has been used to reconstruct the évolution of the végétation since the Neolithic period. Up to the Late-Subboreal, the deposits show a clearly brackish influence, it is only by around 4500 BP that a fresh water peat-bog appears. The main components of the forest are oaks, elms, lime-trees and hazels. The elm-decline which usually indicates the Atlantic-Subboreal boundary is not very clear in the core of Heurteauville. Around 4390 +/- 90 BP, a rapid decrease of arboreal pollen shows a human activity.
