Les unions mixtes en France

Foreign Labour in a Context of Unemployment. During the years of economic growth, France had a taylorist organization of production, which used a great number of non skilled and low paid workers, a great proportion of them being foreigners. Immigrants were recruited for jobs deserted by nationals. The decision taken in 1974 to stop immigration of workers opened a new era for foreign workers. At the end of the second world war, the foreign population was mostly made up of workers; today the majority of foreigners belong to the non working population. Over the decades following the second world war, the foreign labour force ceased to increase and slowly moved away from the specific role that is previously occupied on the labour market. There remained differences between foreign and national workers, but the position of foreign workers moved closer to that of French workers. Economic difficulties in recent years, however, have slowed down this process.Les statistiques d'état civil fondées sur le critère de nationalité donnent une idée déformée du degré de mixité des unions, en niveau et tendance. L'enquête MGIS permet de s'affranchir de ce critère et d'examiner l'évolution de la mixité au fil des générations. Celle-ci varie beaucoup avec l'origine et le statut de l'union. Les filles élevées en France contractent souvent moins d'unions mixtes que les garçons ; les jeunes d'origine espagnole font cependant exception. Le relâchement dans la pratique religieuse (et les interdits alimentaires pour les musulmans) et le fait d'avoir été scolarisé en France favorisent l'union mixte, alors que le statut social et le niveau de diplôme n'interviennent pas systématiquement.Munoz-Perez Francisco, Tribalat Michèle.
