The authors estimate, for families in Québec, the net cost of child care, the financial support provided to them and their disposable income after taxes, contributions and child care costs. These amounts are compared with those in selected countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and show that Québec child care measures significantly decrease the net cost of child care, making Québec the country in which families devote the lowest share of their income to child care costs.
