L'atelier de potier gallo-romain de Sivier (Istres, Bouches-du-Rhône)

ENG : Sivier, Istres, pottery workshop, kiln, pottery, amphorae, tiles.Excavations undertaken in 2000 on the emplacement of the potter workshop of Sivier at Istres discovered a potter kiln used during the 2nd half of the Ist century A.D. During its utilisation, this kiln was refitted. The refitting reduced the space of the kiln chamber. Its side was 3,55m and it diminished to 2m, dividing by three the possibility of mouthly production. The workshop adjoining a villa mainly produced tiles and Gaulish amphorae particurlarly shapes 4 and 5 probably used for the packaging of wine produced by the estate.Marty Frédéric.
