After having gathered the twenty inscriptions mentioning the seventeen sacerdotes Cererum of Carthage eponymous of their year known up to now, we studied the place of discovery of these inscriptions and the origin of these persons : they are mostly from Carthage ; however, two of them are citizens of another town who have been honoured because of their social prestige. Then we examine the exact title of these priests : sacerdos Cererum (or Cereris) or else magister sacrorum Cererum(or Cerealium), and their juridical and social status (equally « ingenui » or « liberti » firstly, they exclusively appear as freeborn men from the rule of Domitian).
