Among the various of Roman African terracotta and ceramics products, one particular group of figurines is remarkable for its technical qualities as well as for the diversity of mythological subjects domestic scenes, feasts, various kinds and animals it displays. A number of fabrications marks suggest these figurines date to the third century. This dating is confirmed by the representation of female hair styles belonging to the periods of Julia Domna. Some of these figurines originally served as lamps, others were transformed into lamps, by the piercing of holes.
