The microtextural petrographiC analysis of protohistoric and gallo-roman millstones from Ambrussum shows that almost all of them come from the basalt outcrops of Agde shore and the lower valley of the Herault river. The domination of millstones coming from Embonne/Cap d'Agde associated with a small but constant part from Saint-Thibery/Bessan calls back to the prevailing situation during the 2nd and Ist centuries B. C. in most part of the sites previously studied in eastern languedoc and Provence .The ancient period (3rd century b.c.) displays characteristic typologies and microtextures. the discovery of a meta issued from Saint Thibery/Bessan in a 1st century layers, extends the productive period of this ancient site for a century.L'analyse...
