At the beginning of the century, the head of an emperor in marble was discovered in the ground at Cimiez. It is difficult to tell — because witnesses disagree — if it was found within the perimeter of the Roman city or to the west of this perimeter, to the north of avenue Regina. The owner of this head kept the original from which he had a plaster cast made for the Archeological Museum of Cimiez. Except for the broken nose, the plaster cast gives the impression of a head in good condition with a hair style typical of the Julio-Claudian period and a large cephalic crown.
