A priori, it is not obvious, whether training activities are positively correlated with search processes, whether these activities have effects on hours of work. The econometric analysis based on bivariate Probit models and selection models with doubled endogenous switch using data for East Germany has the following results: (1) Training activities induce search activities, but not vice versa. (2) General human capital investment affect search activities stronger than specific human capital investments. (3) Training on-the-job reduces significantly the female mobility propensity. No effects for men can be observed. (4) Search activities lead to an extension of hours of work. Training activities reduce the effective hours of work
