Providing an adequate primary and secondary education in The Netherlands is a task of municipalities and school boards. Providing an appropriate housing is an important part of mentioned task. With the law that dates from 1997, the responsibility for accommodation for education was decentralized from the state to municipality. This legislation also gives different roles for municipalities and school boards. Furthermore, this legislation gives more freedom for different possibilities in allocation of roles and responsibilities. Yet, it is the most traditional setting represented in most of the cases in the Netherlands. In this kind of setting school board and municipality share responsibility for the construction and management of school buildings. Nevertheless, the situation with the accommodation for education is not at the desired level. The quality of the buildings seems to be under expected level. More than one million children in primary and secondary schools spend many hours daily in buildings that do not meet the requirements. Using examples of four domestic and three foreign examples the possible solutions that have been offered in the field so far will be shown. Using the foreign examples, the reader will also be encouraged to critically reflect on the circumstances that the successful implementation of such systems in the Netherlands practice. This study will give an overview of all factors affecting the accommodation for education. It will be shown that the presence of specific skills is essential to achieving a successful outcome. Starting from an assumption that integrating the responsibilities and processes could lead to a better basis for building good and healthy schools for our children, this study strive to illustrate functioning of a full (integrated) responsibility for accommodation for education allocated at one spot. In this research the tool has been developed for achieving the integrated responsibility in accommodation for education. The tool consists of a guide which shows the route that an organization has to take in order to create an efficient and effective organizational model for integrated responsibility in accommodation for education. Following the steps of the guide we see which important decisions have to be taken in order to achieve the unity which is required to carry the whole responsibility and the organization and financing of the property. These options are further developed in the potential consequences of certain choices. In the end reader should be able to see which kind of organizational model should be most suitable for given situation and which consequences would the advised model deliver to current situation. By following the steps of this guide the reader should get the insight into the principles, possibilities and limitations of the organizational model that is optimal advice is chosen considering the circumstances and aspirations of the community and the school board
