Based on the latest investigations on the formulation of new magneto-rheological fluids, it is envisioned that the use of ionic liquids as carriers of magneto-rheological fluids will open new possibilities of applications for these smart fluids due to the fact that their physical and chemical properties can be fine-tuned in a broad range. This contribution addresses one potentially important advantage of magneto-rheological fluids which use ionic liquids as novel carriers.
