The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the International Standards Organization (ISO) have developed technologies that define structures for describing media semantics. Although both approaches are based on XML, a number of syntactic and semantic problems hinder their interoperability. In Part 2 we discuss these problems as well as ontological issues for media semantics and the problems of applying theoretical concepts to real-world application
