La plaine d'Argos, répercussions socio-économiques d'une spécialisation agricole

By increasing the individual irrigation that existed long ago, and owing to the offer of national and international market and to the financial help of the Agricultural Bank of Greece, the farmers have made of the Argos huerta a highly specialized area : oranges and artichokes. This mutation, which is still something rare in Greece, seems to postpone the rural exodus of which most of the other areas suffer. In a country where the dynamism of average towns is mainly connected which that of the agricultural surrounding areas, Argos mostly benefits by the economical growth of its plain.En accélérant l'emprise d'une irrigation individuelle déjà ancienne, aidés par la sollicitation des marchés national et international, appuyés par le soutien financier de la Banque Agricole de Grèce, les paysans ont tait de la huerta d' Argos une campagne hautement spécialisée : agrumes et artichauts.
