A wide gravitational gliding (Sackung) affects the steep sided ridge from Mount Padrio to Mount Varadega, that divides the upper Valtellina and the Valle Camonica in the Italian Central Alps. Such phenomenon gave rise to peculiar morpho- tectonic features in the studied area : 1) discontinuous sequences of uphill- facing scarps with the development of a saw-toothed morphology along the northwestern slope of the water parting ; 2) multiple wing-shaped ridges at the top of the water parting that delimitate elongated depressions and pseudo- dolines ; 3) Open tension cracks, furrows and trenches due to the splitting of the rock mass.
