Le poids de la Méditerranée dans l'histoire d'Aluminium de Grèce

The French multinational firm, Pechiney, started in 1966 one of the biggest plants of Greece. This plant produced alumina and aluminium and it is the property of Aluminium de Grèce (ADG). Pechiney came to Greece because of the important ressources of bauxite and because of the low cost of electricity. But the price of electricity in favour of Pechiney provoked a lot of critiscim in the national political debate which meant a lot of problems for ADG. However, the firm knew a global growth, the capacities of production increased, the staff became more and more Greek and the national market was more and more important. The only shadow concerned the company city which was not really welcomed by the staff. ADG is a good example of a successful implant of an industrial firm in the Mediterranean area.Pechiney, multinationale française, a mis en service en 1966 un des plus importants sites industriels de la Grèce l'usine d'alumine et d'aluminium à Saint-Nicolas en Béotie, propriété de la société Aluminium de Grèce (ADG). Pechiney a été attiré par les gisements de bauxite et par le tarif avantageux de l'électricité. Mais la convention signée entre l'entreprise et les autorités grecques a suscité de nombreux débats et polémiques qui ont pesé sur la vie d'ADG. Pourtant, l'entreprise a connu globalement une belle croissance, ses capacités de production ont été augmentées, le marché grec est devenu un débouché important, l'hellénisation programmée du personnel a été réussie. Seule ombre au tableau, la cité de l'usine qui fait l'objet de critiques persistantes. Au total, ADG est un exemple d'implantation plutôt réussie d'une multinationale industrielle dans l'espace méditerranéen.Mioche Philippe.
