The trade unions suffer front a definite lack of money which contributes to increase considerable the difficulties of recruiting new members. Fougères, howewer, as in many other fields, is an exception. There, the trade unions collect subscriptions with a particular care ; to these dues are added various grants and aids from the outside in case of conflicts with the employers. With this money, when it is well managed, the trade unions can give out aids in case of strike or unemployment ; this money is used to spread propaganda, to teach the union members and for the necessary solidarity of the capital of the shoe industry with the other national or even international organizations.
