The medium mountain region of Western Europe is both a rural and a highland area. For this reason, it is victim of conflicting economies, which often leave it in a weak and critical condition. But, as in other rural sectors, major changes are affecting society, agriculture, tourism and other industries of the highlands, thus aggravating internal oppositions.La moyenne montagne d'Europe occidentale est à la fois un territoire rural et montagnard.
