Design of PP polymerization process - Technical package

Polypropylene (PP) is a commodity plastic, which possesses a good balance of properties that can be tailored to a wide range of applications. Its high rigidity, lightness, heat, mechanical and chemical resistance make it suitable for packaging, construction, textile and automotive sectors.The market for polypropylene hot water service pipes is moving from standard random copolymer PP RCP, to improved materials that have a higher-pressure resistance or minimum required strength (MRS) class. Sabic also aims at producing higher MRS-class materials for this application. These improved materials will enable Sabic’s customers to produce thinner-walled pipes, which require less material to produce and allow larger water flow capacities.In collaboration with Sabic, Kiran Abraham Jacob (TU/e EngD Trainee in Process and Product design program) focuses on the development of a Technical package describing the Design of an improved PP polymerization process. This technical package includes process design and addresses the technical challenges associated with the process
