This chapter introduces a classification of DAC correction methods. A set of representative DAC correction methods is selected and three fundamental groups of methods are defined: Error-Transfer-Function-Prevention (ETFP), Error-Transfer-Function-Correction (ETFC), and Signal-Transfer-Function-Compensation (STFC). Then, three categories with dichotomous classes are defined along three different angles of incidence: error measurement, redundancy, and system level. The presented DAC correction methods are ordered and the missing methods are identified. Common properties of the methods that belong to the same classes are discussed.
