Pregnancy complications are associated with insufficient adaptation of the maternal autonomic nervous system to the physiological demands of pregnancy. Consequently, assessing maternal heart rate variability (mHRV)—which reflects autonomic regulation—is a promising tool for detecting early deterioration in maternal health.
