Im Rahmen von Auswirkungsbetrachtungen, wie sie bei Sicherheitsberichten oder Risikoanalysen erforderlich sind, sind oft Szenarien mit einer Lachenverdunstung von brennbaren und/oder toxischen Flüssigkeiten zu untersuchen. Wesentliche Einflussgrössen für die Konzentrationsverteilung in der Umgebung sind der Verdunstungsmassenstrom, das Lachenwachstum und die Gasausbreitung. Bisher werden für diese Berechnungen mehrere Modelle mit unterschiedlicher Genauigkeit miteinander gekoppelt.
