The work on two projects has been described in this report. These projects are the temperature-strain separation project and the barcoded fiber project.The goal of the temperature-strain separation project was to measure strain in an FBG which is subjected to a varying strain and temperature. Being able to separate temperature effects from a strain measurement with one FBG increases the accuracy of a strain measurement.An experimental setup is designed and constructed which is expected to be able to separate temperature and strain effects in a measurement.The goal of the barcoded fiber project was to design a system which is able to identify optical fibers via FBG interrogation.
