Three relatively recent, positive appraisals of the argument of Saint Anselm for the existence of God are summarized (R. Sokolowski, G.E.M. Anscombe and J.-L. Marion). The distinctive position of each of these three authors regarding the argument is brought out. Sokolowski finds the value of the argument to lie in its exact expression of the Christian distinction between the Creator and the creation. Anscombe and Marion maintain that the argument can be stated, or re-stated, in a way that avoids the Kantian critique of ontolo- gism, that is, of passing illegitimately from the essence of the most real thing to its existence. The article concludes with some personal reflections of its author.Assez récemment, l'argument de saint Anselme en fav...
