In der Dissertation wird ein neues Verfahren zur Überwachung der Qualität beim Widerstandspunktschweißen vorgestellt. Die Besonderheit dieses Verfahrens ist die Verbindung verschiedener mathematischer und nummerischer Methoden, deren Grundlage ein selbstlernender Merkmalsraum mit einer dynamischen Anzahl von Dimensionen und Merkmalen am Eingang ist. Als Vorbereitung der Eingabedaten kommen Prinzipien zur Anwendung, die aus dem mathematischen Modellieren physikalischer Prozesse während des Widerstandspunktschweißens bekannt sind.
