The introduction of 25 kV a.c. traction in the Dutch railway system required a careful study of the compatibility with existing 1500 V d.c. traction and with other systems in the vicinity of the railway. Over the last decade, a number of studies have been carried out, using specially developed measurement systems and methods of analysis. The present paper describes a newly developed Poynting sensor that builds on the earlier developed differentiating/integrating measurements system. Measurements on the railway power system with current injection at e.g. 60 and 48 Hz will be discussed as well
