Die vorliegende Arbeit beschreibt die fundamentalen Prinzipien kurzwelliger Upconversionfaserlaser. Hierbei wird insbesondere auf die laserphysikalischen und materialtechnischen Grundlagen eingegangen. Der experimentelle und angewandte Aufbau von Faserresonatoren wird diskutiert. Die Funktion und Wirkungsweise von blauen Upconversionfaserlasern wird am Beispiel eines 482nm Tm:ZBLAN Lasersystems dargelegt. Mit diesem System konnte eine maximale kontinuierliche Ausgangsleistung von 120mW erzielt werden. Aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse verdeutlichen die hervorragenden Strahleigenschaften sowie das breite Anwendungspotential des Upconversionfaserlasers.
