Abstract—Activity recognition using ubiquitous sensors evolved tremendously during the last decade. Despite the breadth of research applications, various fundamental challenges remain unsolved. Originating from the vision of activity and contextaware personal assistants, the main question is whether the envisioned applications are too ambitious to be tackled by activity recognition technologies. This position paper details progress and shortcomings of current research efforts and pinpoints aspects to improve standards and quality of publications in activity recognition research
