During visual experiments the use of a 4-channel programmable waveform generator is often required . The generator (called WAVGEN) developed at our Institute can be programmed through the HP-IB . WAVGEN is an example of distributed processing . In all there are 5 microprocessors (Motorola M6809) Which together generate a preprogrammed signal. This lessens the load on the computer controlling the experiment
