The color centers of the alkali borate glasses are discussed in terms of structural units. The radiation-induced color centers in these glasses are studied by means of optical absorption and E.S.R. The absorption bands of the 2 types of spectra are correlated to the various types of structural units present in these glasses and a no. of models of the color centers are proposed.
