The system Fe-Ti-C has been investigated by means of quantitative electron probe microanalysis and optical microscopy on equilibrated ternary alloys and 9n multiphase ternary diffusion couples. An isothermal cross-section of the phase diagram at 1273 K was established. Diffusion paths observed in diffusion couples are shown. The kinetics of TiC1- x layer growth is discussed
