The A. first analyses, then criticises Merleau-Ponty 's posthumous work, Le visible et l'invisible. He shows the problematic character of certain key ideas such as the idea of «the flesh of the world». He opposes the notion of «human interiority» to Merleau-Ponty 's implicit monism. He proves that the phenomena of verbal communication and of the ethical life can only be thought by means of the category of the «person». The A. concludes that what Merleau-Ponty calls «the metaphysical in man» presupposes an interiority which is sensitive to the requirements of a radical Exteriority. (Transl. by J.
