Le tourisme irlandais : enjeux et mutations

ABSTRACT This paper analyses some recent trends and patterns of tourism in Ireland. Although Ireland has long been well known for the recreation and relaxation it can offer, it is only recently that tourism has become a key component of the Irish economy. It generates a total revenue of about /£ one billion annually and supports 80 000 jobs. Private initiatives (B & B, camping and caravaning, holiday home parks, farm holidays), state development policy and new forms of recreation (golf, hunting) are constantly changing its space distribution.RÉSUMÉ Cet article étudie l'évolution récente et les caractéristiques générales du tourisme irlandais. Si depuis longtemps l'Irlande offre un lieu de loisir et de détente privilégié, l'activité touristique est en croissance rapide. Elle emploie 80 000 salariés et rapporte chaque année un milliard de £ irl. La distribution spatiale de la dynamique se modifie constamment sous l'influence des initiatives privées (B & B, camping et caravaning, séjours à la ferme), de la politique étatique d'aménagement et des nouvelles formes de tourisme (golfe, chasse).Carroué Laurent.
