Multivariable and closed-loop identification of large scale industrial processes is studied. The proposed asymptotic identification method (ASYM) solves industrial identification problems systematically. The advantages of the new technology are: 1) improved model quality, 2) reduced time for plant test and data analysis, 3) reduced disturbance to unit operation during plant test and 4) user friendliness. To demonstrate the use of the method, identification of a deethanizer for use in MPC is presented
