The poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP1) interacts with the telomere factor TRF1 and loss of PARP1 results in telomere fragility and impairment of helicases -TRF1 complex assembly.Telomeres are nucleoprotein structures at eukaryotic chromosome termini. Their stability is preserved by a six-protein complex named shelterin. Among these, TRF1 binds telomere duplex and assists DNA replication with mechanisms only partly clarified.
