Vestimenta de domingo San Pedro de Atacama

This article aims to examine the relevance of clothing, as a means of differentiation and segmentation within the rural, mining and indigenous society of San Pedro de Atacama during the twentieth century. Such a situation is specifically analyzed from a categorization made through clothing, fabrics, testimonies, fashion and other elements that reflect the social position of each individual and their affiliation to specific common or ethnic groups. To carry out this study, we employed an ethnographic approach of participant observation, conversations, interviews, including the review and family photographs, in order to analyze the discourse and meaning around clothing during all this time and its impact on the collective order of this community.El presente artículo tiene como objetivo examinar la relevancia de la vestimenta, como medio de diferenciación y segmentación dentro de la sociedad rural, minera e indígena de San Pedro de Atacama durante el siglo XX. Tal situación se analiza específicamente desde una categorización realizada por medio de la confección, telas, testimonios, moda y otros elementos que reflejan la posición social de cada individuo y su afiliación a grupos comunes o étnicos específicos. Para llevar a cabo este estudio, se empleó un enfoque etnográfico de observación participante, conversaciones, entrevistas, se incluyó la revisión de archivos y fotografías familiares, con el fin de analizar el discurso y significado en torno a la vestimenta a lo largo de este tiempo y su impacto en el orden colectivo de esta comunidad
