Remarques sur le texte de la Chronographie de Michel Psellos

Michael Psellos's Chronographia is one of the masterworks of Byzantine historiography. As we know it today, especially through the edition by Emile Renauld, the text is often obscure, partly because of Psellos's subtle and sophisticated language and partly because of the state of the Chronographia' s unique manuscript. Some new suggestions are made here on the basis of the author's writing-habits as they emerge from his other writings. In this article, only the changes that considerably improve comprehension of the text have been retained. Le texte dont nous disposons, notamment celui édité par Emile Renauld, comporte de nombreuses obscurités dues tant au grec subtil et fin de Psellos qu'à l'état du manuscrit unique qui nous a conservé la Chronographie. Pour offrir de nouvelles suggestions, nous nous sommes appuyés sur les autres écrits de Psellos pour tenir compte des usages de l'écrivain. Nous n'avons retenu pour cet article que les modifications qui améliorent sensiblement la compréhension du texte et modifient la traduction.
