The A. deals here with a number of questions raised by the interpretation of the Ethics and Politics brought together as contributions by Aristotle to the philosophy of man. He refuses to see these works of the Corpus as elements of an encyclopaedic system. In his view they were the object of a discourse aimed at politicians and, more specifically, at legislators on the science and the critical sense of which Aristotle relied in order to ensure, in the City-State, an education in conformity with the requirements of the Good. The emphasis lies on the prerequisites expected of his listeners if his teaching, understood in this way, was to bear fruit. (Transl. by J.
