Varieties In Contact (Vinko): Online data collection in non-standard linguistic varieties

This talk discusses the methodology of an online platform called ‘Varieties in Contact’ (VinKo), which collects oral linguistic data from non-standard minority language varieties using online crowd-sourcing. This talk will focus on the methodological challenges of online data collection, as well as its advantages, and aims to open up the discussion on the potential uses of online data collection methods in the Rift Valley Area.Note: This talk has not gone through a process of peer review, and findings should therefore be treated as preliminary and subject to change.
