Congenital deafblind children in a different cultural context. Project experiences in Uganda. This article is based on the author's experiences from the encounter with an African culture. The author compares the condition for development and learning that congenitally deafblind persons require and the natural conditions for development offered to African babies. Congenitally deafblind children should grow up in environments that consider their need for bodily experiences for the promotion of their optimal development and learning. The author suggests to look to the African culture, which to a much larger extent than our western cultures offer these favourable conditions.
