This article deals with how deaf and hearing children grasp the principle of conservation of substance, weight and volume. The children were tested under identical experimental conditions, using the same procedure. Analysed qualitatively, the results reveal the same types of reactions in both groups, from which it can be inferred that the structures of concrete logical reasoning are of an identical nature in deaf and hearing subjects. A quantitative analysis shows a tendency for deaf children to be classified at the transitory stage.
