The present study was designed to investigate the effects of friendship on the behavior of children in the roles of novice and expert. Forty-eight same-sex dyads of 8 year old friends and non-friends took part in two problem solving tasks. Results show that friends reorganised shared experiences and knowledge when they are placed in a tutoring situation.
