The first aim of the present study was to compare the social behavior of children whose sociometric status changes from kindergarten (Tl) to grade one (T2) to those whose status remains stable, on the basis of data provided by peers, teachers, and mothers. Three hundred children (168 boys and 132 girls) participated in the study at both time periods. Rejected boys and girls with a stable rejected status from Tl to T2 were, according to peers and to teachers, less prosocial at Tl but more aggressive or disruptive than their classmates whose rejected status was transitory. At T2, the differences between stable and non stable rejectees were more numerous. On the other hand, the stable popular subjects of both genders were judged by their peers...
