abstract: In the 1990s the theory of M. Bakhtin and his circle (Medvedev, VoloSinov) became the subject of sometimes really virulent reinter- pretations in Russia. In this article, we try to present some tendencies among Russian intellectuals to take a stand with respect to Bakhtin' s thought and concepts which have appeared over the last decade. The « polyphony » of critical readings called « quarrel of Bakhtin » presents a diachronical overview of the divergent perspectives built by different generations of Russian-Soviet reasearchers, from the founding text of the Soviet semiotics in the 1970s (V.V.
