Introduction to the study of the relationship between the temperature of ocean waters and the Morocco coastal rains. This preliminary note concerns the influence of the sea surface temperature on the coastal rainfall in Morocco. By its temperature, the sea water close to the continent can decrease or increase the rainy efficiency of the disturbances coming from elsewhere and also modify the pression field The distant thermal anomalies appear through their effects on the ampli tude and the localisation of the tropospheric waves : — from an example one can see how an unusual position of the Gulf Stream can influence the distribution of the coastal rainfall. — the winter thermal anomalies in the North Pacific linked with the extreme monthly thermal anomalies in the southeastern United States coincide with the variation of the monthly rainfall on the coast of Morocco, which is significantly higher or lower. — the Spring rains, particularly at the south of Casablanca, seem to bt related to the fluctuations of the Southern Oscillation and to the tempe rature of the Pacific equatorial waters during the previous winter termCette note préliminaire étudie, à différentes échelles, les influences de la température des eaux océaniques de surface sur les précipitations côtières du Maroc. Selon leur température, les eaux océaniques proches du continent peu vent réduire ou accentuer l'efficacité pluviométrique des perturbations ayant pris naissance ailleurs, mais aussi modifier sensiblement le champ de pression. Les anomalies thermiques de l'océan plus lointain se manifestent par leurs effets sur l'amplitude et la localisation des ondes troposphériques : — A partir d'un exemple, on montre comment une position inhabituelle du Gulf Stream peut intervenir dans la répartition des précipitations côtières. — Les anomalies thermiques hivernales du Pacifique nord, quand elles sont associées aux anomalies thermiques les plus fortes du sud-est des Etats-Unis, correspondent à des précipitations mensuelles sur le littoral du Maroc significativement plus élevées ou plus basses suivant le sens de l'anomalie. — Les pluies printanières, en particulier au sud de Casablanca, sont sensibles aux fluctuations de la Southern Oscillation et de la température des eaux équatoriales pacifiques le trimestre précédent.Delannoy Henry.
