Historically, the « co-operatives » represent, broadly speaking, the oldest form of group agriculture. These co-operatives cover 3 generations : cereals from 1934 to 1936 which are losing ground because they do not dominate the manufacture of cattle food ; milk, from the 50's, are on the whole well-established and are ahead of private enterprises for the more elaborate manufactures thanks in particular to UNICOPA ; meat co-operatives which came inta existence around 1960 are the most dynamic with Argoat specialising in the indoor raising of bull-calves. Outside these three categories, the co-operatives and groups of producers are concerned with poultry-raising, vegetable production, and scientific research on cattle and pigs. In poultry-ra...
