The excavation and recording of several metres of the Gier aqueduct, which fed Lyon, brought to light the importance of the building. The exceptional quality of its construction and the excellent state of preservation of this section revealed careful maintenance during the roman period and re-use during the Middle Ages. A latin inscription was discovered among the recycled building materials.
