The study of a substantial collection of intaglios (63) from a Roman sewer excavated in 1989 in the city centre at Lons-le-Saunier. The nature and shape of the stones and glasspastes, the wide diversity of the types of motives (deities, Eros among them, heroes, humans, animals, symbols) and the stylistic examinations allow one to date these intaglios to the years 50-150 A.D. The stones once adorned rings, most of which belonged to women ; they got lost during baths in thermae (so far unidentified) and were washed away into the main sewer attached to the establishment.
