An important sample of animal bone remains was recovered from the storage pits of the Michelsberg settlement of Mairy. The first results of the archaeozoological study indicated an absence of hunted animals and a preponderance of cattle among the domestic livestock. The study of the age at death suggests a husbandry with meat production as its main aim. Several other aspects of animal utilization at this site are distinctive. The bones are not very fragmented and traces of butchery resulting from the removal of flesh are rare.
